Skye - Kyle of Lochalsh - Scotland.

The Isle of Skye, commonly known as Skye, is the largest and most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. In Gaelic it is known as 'An t-Eilean Sgithanach' ("The Winged Isle").

The resident population is boosted in the summer by large numbers of tourists and visitors. The main industries are tourism, agriculture, whisky-distilling, brewing and craftmaking. The main town and capital of the island is Portree, which is known for its picturesque harbour.

Skye has spectacular scenery, vibrant culture and heritage, as well as abundant wildlife including the Golden Eagle, Sea Eagle and Red Deer

'The misty isle' has some of the most dramatic and challenging mountain terrain in Scotland, including the Cuillin, as well as a rich heritage of ancient monuments, castles, and memorials.

How to get there.

Head up the A9 from Stirling. At Dalwhinnie take the A889 then the A86 to Speanbridge and the A82 to Invergarry. Follow the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh then take the bridge over to Skye. Eilean Donan castle is Just before Kyle of Lochalsh.
