Four Hands with James Gibb |
|
Stephen Plaistow and James Gibb formed a duet partnership - four hands at one keyboard - in 1992, having played together informally for a long time. Their first public concerts were promoted by Cambridge University in association with a course of lectures they gave there on the keyboard music of the classical period. They have since played at other universities in the UK and for music clubs and in London at Bishopsgate Hall for the City Music Society. In 1994 they toured Australia, playing in all the major cities and broadcasting for the ABC in Sydney. Their programmes concentrate on the repertory from Mozart through Schubert to Brahms and Dvorak, where the musical riches are abundant. Many of the works of Mozart and Schubert for duet are among their most ambitious music for the piano and at the same time among their greatest works of chamber music: chamber music for four hands. |
