" Preach the Word and Heal the Sick."

The Fishermen's Mission has had a presence at Scrabster Harbour for over forty years. The present building has been updated on a few occasions over the past five years with a new up to date Kitchen fitted and recently a new Lounge and Emergency room come Guest room having been added to the building and the second floor gave a Lounge and extra bedroom to the living quarters of the Mission Man and family who live above the Mission so that the premises can be made available as required for Fishermen socially & for emergencies on a 24 hrs 7 day a week basis.

From Scrabster the Superintendent covers an area from Tongue to Alness and the Orkney Isles calling at all the Fishing towns and villages as required. As well as the Superintendent there is are Honory Agents, in Stromness and Helmsdale, who on hearing of special needs will contact the Mission and inform the Superintendent of what is required.

The Superintendent is trained to be available as a visitor to homes and hospitals - and when needed will conduct the funeral services of those connected with the sea . Often standing in at Church services and Guilds and Schools sharing their faith and also at times sharing the work that is done on behalf of the Fishermen. Fundraising plays also a serious part in the work of caring, but whatever is being done it is being done in keeping with the Mission's motto: " Preach the Word and Heal the Sick."
