- Club Purpose
- The Locost Car Club primarily exists to support those who
are interested in the construction of, and ownership of cars built by
embracing the principles and approaches to car building given in the
book “Build Your Own Sports Car for as Little as £250” by Ron
Champion.
- The Committee.
- The clubs affairs will be administered on behalf of the
members by a committee formed from members of the club.
- In addition to the Honorary position of Club Chairman
bestowed on Ron Champion, there will be a minimum of three committee
members appointed.
- Committee members are normally appointed for a minimum period
of 12 months from the date of the club AGM.
- Any club member may stand for the committee.
- In the event of more than one person standing for a committee
post then an election will be held at the club’s AGM. The candidate
receiving the greatest number of votes from the members present at the
AGM will be appointed.
- Voting will normally be by a show of hands.
- It is hoped that any committee member will remain in post for
a minimum of 12 months. However in the event of a committee member
being unable to complete his/her term in office then either the post
can be left vacant until the next AGM, provided that at least 3
committee members remain in post., or nominations will be sought from
the membership. An EGM will be called or postal ballot held if the post
is contested.
- Annual General Meeting.
- The club’s AGM will be held once a year at one of the four
main UK Kit Car Shows. It is most likely to be held at Stoneleigh in
May.
- Paid up members of the club on the date of the AGM will be
eligible to vote.
- An AGM will be considered quorate if 7½% or 30 voting
members (which ever is the lower) are present.
- The meeting will be chaired by a member of the committee.
- Extraordinary General Meeting.
- An EGM may be called at any time by the committee. If a
petition signed by 5% of the paid up members is sent to the club
requesting an EGM then the committee must call an EGM within 6 weeks of
receiving the petition.
- Those who are paid up members of the club on the date of the
EGM will be eligible to vote.
- An EGM will be considered quorate if 7½% or 30 voting
members (which ever is the lower) are present.
- The meeting will be
chaired by a member of the committee.
