Mel & Ella. . .

In 2002, after five years as Area Chairman of BCC Scotland, and the offer of early retirement from my other job, you know , the one that gets in the way of the Camping but brings in the money, I decided to grab it all and run!

So Ella and myself ended up in the winter SUN, on Spain's Costa Brava, about 25 paces from the Mediterranean. Picture this, it's the 1st November and the sun is out, the temperature is around 24 C, so it can't be bad.

We stayed at Caravaning Camping Bon Repos, Santa Susanna, BARCELONA till around the 20th December 2002 and the site was very pleasant, swimming pool, on the beach, and only about 200 metres from the town and the station, with good trains (every half hour) to Barcelona and Girona.

After Christmas and New Year, we travelled on down to Tarragona, and ended up at a Club Winter rally at Vinaros where we enjoyed the local "Carnaval" and Las Fallas in Valencia during our stay.

For winter 2003, we left the UK in October and spent time in Bon Repos again, travelled on to Banos de Fortuna, and then spent time at the Camping and Caravanning Club rally at La Manga, (too big for us, but met some old friends from the club there). After the turn of the year we spent time in Benidorm, and six weeks in Portugal based at Alvor on the Algarve.

From 2004 into 2005, we left at the end of October to spend the time till Christmas in Torrevieja, a "Spanish" resort and coastal town around 40 minutes from Alicante, towards the South. After the turn of the year went back to Benidorm, and mid April into May, we were at L'Estartit in the Costa Brava! In September we went to Italy, to Lake Garda, taking in Venice and Verona!

The start of 2006 saw us back at Torrevieja February thru to mid March, and in the Costa Brava again for May/June time. October into November we booked for a return to Benidorm, so that was good!

This year, 2007, again we head off to Torrevieja from mid February to mid March, and May sees us going to Naples. For Autumn into Winter we're back to Torrevieja and La Mata, so if you are to be down this way, or near us at around those times, e-mail us for more infoz or perhaps to meet up for a chat!
